Andheri's new nightspot refuses to acknowledge the economic slowdown, with its cheapest cocktail priced at half a grand! Tequila Fever and Carbaniera
Mumbai's reeling under the burden of recycling. And it's not eco-friendly measures we are trashing, but the trend of new pubs cropping up, most of them rehashed versions of old clubs. And when they charge Rs 800 for a cocktail, is it demanding to expect a five-star ambience? But when we sauntered into Tequila Lounge, we were ushered into a room where the wooden flooring had scotch tape stuck on, and the upholstery looked old and used.
The tipple: A look at the alcohol menu isn't good for the heart. Most cocktails are priced at
Rs 800. The cheapest ones are Tequila Fever (Rs 500) and Carbaniera (Rs 600), both concoctions of orange, lime and tequila were refreshing and
well-made.
The food:u00a0 Strangely, the food was affordable. We ordered BBQ Chicken (Rs 225), a crunchy and tangy appetiser. For main course we settled for Mix Veg in Hot Basil (Rs 290) and Chicken Ala Carnivale (Rs 340). Skip the Mix Veg unless you in the mood for watery gravy with no dominant taste. The Chicken was unusual and delicious, stuffed with green herbs. It goes well with the Risotto
that accompanies it.
Service: We were impressed with the pleasant and prompt service, until we were told the system was down and were dished out a hand-written bill.
