A 2011 CBSE class 12 topper from Maharashtra, Shreeram Radhakrishnan (19), died Monday after prolonged illness for nearly 18 months.u00a0He had even passed an entrance test and secured admission to a dual degree course in IIT Bombay, but couldn't attend the course due to his illness.

A Science student, Shreeram had secured 97.6% in his Class 12 CBSE board exams last year. When the results were declared, he wasn't in a state to react or express joy as he had high fever.
His mother Lalitha, said, "Shreeram was having 104 degree fever when his result came out last year. He couldn't even see the articles about him and appreciate it. He was initially diagnosed with leptospirosis and later also had jaundice. All these illnesses lead to low immunity in his body."

There was a tie for the highest scorer in the city between Shreeram, who was from Apeejay School, Nerul, and EA Nasrin Jaleel from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Powai as both had scored 97.6% in the Science stream.
He was also a Rotarian during his school time. He scored full marks (100/100) in Mathematics and notched up an almost perfect score in Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science as well. Hailing from a family of engineers, he too dreamt of becoming one.
His mother added, "He went in semi conscious state this year and yesterday (Monday) he expired."u00a0
