Congress steers clear of Priya Dutt's disapproval of brother Sanjay's decision to contest on an SP ticketThe Congress yesterday steered clear of its MP Priya Dutt's disapproval of the Samajwadi Party's decision to field her brother and Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt in the Lucknow Lok Sabha constituency saying it was a family affair.
"This is a family affair. We have nothing to say on this," party spokesperson Manish Tewari said on whether it was proper for late Sunil Dutt's son to contest on a SP ticket.
Tewari said, "Every adult
in this world is entitled to make an independent choice. Congress does not comment on individuals."
Tewari also rubbished the charges that there was pressure on Dutt not to contest as he was convicted under the Arms Act in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case.
