is back with a bang.
The former BJP MP from east Delhi has hit the headlines following a TV channel showing him in a CD with alleged accused of the Malegoan blasts.
A day after, the office of the said TV channel was vandalized by RSS workers, Sharma told MiD DAY that the CD was doctored claiming he was being framed under a "conspiracy".
"I can tell you with conviction that we did not discus any plot for bomb blasts. It is a conspiracy to defame me. I do not subscribe to such things," he said. "Two years ago, three Anti-Terrorism Squad officials had come to meet me and asked some questions about Malegaon blasts and I fully cooperated with them," he said.
Prem admitted to his presence in the footage along with one "Bhai Dehlvi, a Shankaracharya from Jammu and Kashmir".
"I don't know anybody else shown in the CD. But one thing I am sure about it that none of them belong to RSS. If I remember correctly, these people had met me asking me to join their organization called as Abhinav Bharat but I refused," Sharma claimed.
When asked when and where this meeting took place he said, "I visit a thousand places every year. I can not remember everything....Aur bhi gham hain zamane main iske siwa," he said.
"I would like to tell my detractors that if somebody has to plant a bomb he would not discuss it among the six people," Sharma pointed out.
When asked about Saturday's incident, he said, "I was in Ghaziabad on Saturday. I left in the noon and returned only by eight in the evening. I came to know about it in the evening. I do not know anything about it," he said, distancing him from the controversy.u00a0 However, he did not comment on whether it was right for the RSS workers to vandalise the office and attack the media.u00a0
In the dock |
Apart from BL Sharma 'Prem' others in the dock are RSS leader Indresh Kumar, Delhi-based endocrinologist Dr R.P. Singh and Dr Sharad Kunthe, head of the chemistry department at Pune's Wadia College. Sharma has been shown in league with Dayanand Pandey and Lt Col Srikant Purohit, both accused in the 2008 Malegaon blasts and in jail. In the video, Sharma is holding a meeting where he talks about starting an underground terrorist movement against Muslims. The meeting happened at a temple in Nasik in 2007 - at a time when Lt Col Purohit was posted there - and laid the foundation for the formation of Hindu militant group Abhinav Bharat. Also present was Bhai Dalvi, a self-styled Hindu fanatic from Mumbai. |
