Dr Vidya Yeravdekar, joint director of Symbiosis Society, where three students tested postive for deadly swine flu speaks to Mid day
How have you dealt with swine flu at Symbiosis?
Three of our students were infected with the H1N1 virus. We have been following government guidelines. We also have a strong Symbiosis Centre of Health Care. The need is to counsel students and parents. Outstation parents areu00a0 particularly worried, which explains why attendance has been low this week.
Is it difficult to maintain standards at Symbiosis?
As a university, we have set norms and standards laid down by the UGC. We also have our own quality assurance cell International Quality Assurance Cell that ensures that a certain quality is maintained all over in Pune, Noida and Bangalore.
Describe the Symbiosis experience.
It is a way of life. We believe that the student is the most important person. Our focus is student-centric. Forty per cent of our budget is handled by students. We are very passionate about what we believe in.
