Mumbai: Woman falls to death from overcrowded train

A 26-year-old officegoer from Dombivli died after she slipped from the footboard of an overcrowded suburban train between Kopar and Diva station . The deceased has been identified as Riya Shyamji Rajgor, who stayed with her parents and brother at Shri Sanket Building in Dombivli East. Read more.

Mumbai: Hotel reduced to ashes in massive fire; four hospitalised

A massive fire broke out at a hotel in Nalasopara after a hydraulic machine operated by civic officials accidentally uprooted a gas pipeline while widening a drain on. The gas leakage engulfed the Dwarka Hotel on Achole Road, injuring four people. The hotel building was turned into ashes as the fire engulfed the structure in no time. Read more.

Mumbai: Huge tree hacked overnight in Santacruz

A huge baobab tree—native to Africa and rare in Mumbai—located in Santacruz West has been cut down and the road around it concreted within a day, allege residents of the area. The residents opposed the MMRDA proposal to cut the tree on S V Road, near the intersection of Saraswati Road at the Podar School traffic signal, during Metro 2B work in 2021. Though the authority had taken back its decision at that time, residents said the tree was cut down without any notice on Sunday and the road was concreted immediately. Read more.

They say TISS has always encouraged students to think critically about social justice and inclusivity. 623 alumni signed a statement asking the TISS administration to cancel Ramadas's two-year suspension. Mumbai: High-rise tower manager arrested for stealing society funds

The Kandivli police arrested a 63-year-old manager of a high-rise for allegedly siphoning about Rs 3.35 lakh from society funds by forging signatures. The manager, Ajay Shah, was working with Hiranandani Heritage-based Estonia housing society located on SV Road in Kandivli West.  The Kandivli police found that Shah had used a similar modus operandi to target high-rise housing societies.
