Mumbai rains back after break, cause landslide and water-logging

After a lull of two weeks, heavy rains hit the financial capital of Mumbai and the coastal North Konkan belt since the wee hours of Tuesday, officials said here on Tuesday. While one boy was washed away in a flooded river in Jalgaon, there has been no impact on the road, rail traffic or air services.

The southwest monsoon has again become active in Mumbai after a long gap, bringing heavy rains to the city and neighbouring areas and causing a landslide here due to which some people were injured. Pic/Shadab Khan

Besides Mumbai, large areas of Palghar, Thane and Raigad districts - comprising the Mumbai Metropolitan Region also witnessed heavy to very heavy rainfall. Pic/Shadab Khan

IMD has predicted moderate rain in the city and suburbs with the possibility of heavy falls at isolated places during the next 24 hours. Pic/Shadab Khan

Due to waterlogging, the traffic movement at a few stretches was restricted and people were advised to avoid these routes. Pic/Shadab Khan
