Eyewitnesses recounted the incident to the police, describing how an unidentified man snatched a mobile phone from a woman while she was in an autorickshaw at the Bandra Mahim junction, which links the SV road and the Western Express Highway.

The victim, determined not to let the thief get away, chased the culprit, and local residents joined in pursuit.

The fear of arrest seemed to drive the snatcher to desperate measures. In a bid to escape capture, he resorted to an audacious ploy.

He quickly scaled a wall along the creek and, with the stolen mobile phone in hand, jumped into the Mahim Creek.

Witnesses reported that the man disappeared beneath the water's surface as he attempted to evade capture by submerging himself in the creek. The audacity of the escape attempt left those on the scene stunned.

Concerned for the man's safety, the fire brigade was promptly summoned to conduct search operations, hoping to locate the fleeing criminal. However, despite their efforts, the mobile snatcher remained elusive.
