Maharashtra extends lockdown till June 1, BMC halts Covid-19 jabs for 18-44

The Maharashtra government on Thursday extended the lockdown-like restrictions till June 1 to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus. A circular issued stated that any person entering the state by any mode of transport will have to carry a negative RT-PCR test report, which will have to be issued from up to a maximum of 48 hours before the time of entry into Maharashtra. On Thursday, Mumbai recorded 1,946 new Covid-19 cases during the day, which took its caseload to 6,84,048, while the fresh fatalities pushed the death toll to 14,076. According to the civic body, there are 85 containment zones in Mumbai, where 432 buildings have been sealed to break the chain of the virus.
