On the intervening night of October 5 and 6, 2024, Western Railway undertook a 10-hour block to complete a major infrastructure work near Malad station.

During the 10-hour block on the 5th line--which began at 11 pm to 9 am--train services on between Goregaon and Kandivali were impacted.

The block was undertaken as part of the ongoing work of adding a sixth line in the area which is expected to improve overall service capacity.

Additionally, a 4.5-hour block on the Up Fast lines from 11 pm to 3:30 am was announced by WR.

Due to the infrastructure work, all Up Fast-line local trains were to be rerouted via the Up/Slow line from Borivali to Andheri during the specified block periods.

Meanwhile, the Western Railway is preparing to implement a new suburban timetable starting October 12, 2024.

This timetable aims to enhance passenger convenience and comfort, reflecting the railway's commitment to improving service quality for commuters in the Mumbai area.

The upcoming timetable will introduce 12 new suburban services and extend six existing services.

This change will increase the total number of services from 1394 to 1406, thereby offering more options for passengers and helping to alleviate congestion during peak travel times.

Among the extended services, there will be six new services in the Up direction. Notably, a Fast service will run from Virar to Churchgate, and two slow services will operate between Dahanu Road and Virar. Additionally, slow services will connect Andheri, Goregaon, and Borivali to Churchgate, enhancing connectivity across key stations.
