Traffic congestion was witnessed between Versova Bridge and to Vasai stretch on the Mumbai Ahmedabad Highway.

The congestion was caused due to traffic from Eastern Express Highway to Western Express Highway due to Maratha Morcha.

Visuals from the site showed the cops stepping in and manually managing the traffic ensuring smooth flow of things.

In some other places, good samaritans stepped up and tried to manoeuvre the traffic as the vehicles kept lining up.

The traffic congestion was exacerbated by people driving in the wrong direction as evidenced in some visuals from the scene.

Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange Patil is leading scores of supporters to the city's Azad Maidan to protest seeking reservation for the community.

The Mumbai police had cited concerns about the impact on Mumbai's financial activities and transportation system while denying permission to Jarange Patil from holding strike at Azad Maidan

In spite of having no permit, Jarange Patil did not relent and said they will protest at Azad Maidan and has arrived in outskirts of Mumbai today

Mumbai Police had also provided an alternative for the protestors to gather at the International Corporation Park Ground in Kharghar however, they declined it too.
