A fire broke out at Sunshine Enterprises, a hand gloves manufacturing unit in the Waluj industrial area, resulting in the loss of six lives.
The fire ignited around 1 am, catching thirteen workers off guard while they were asleep inside the factory premises.
While seven individuals managed to escape the inferno by breaking through the tin roof, unfortunately, six workers succumbed to the fire.
Shinde directed authorities to provide financial assistance and cover the medical expenses of the injured workers, demonstrating immediate government action.
The Chief Minister expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives due to the factory fire, extending condolences to the families affected by the incident.
Firefighters battled the blaze, successfully extinguishing it by 3:30 am, averting further catastrophe in the area.
Police Commissioner Manoj Lohiya and District Guardian Minister Sandipan Bhumare provided insights into the incident, detailing the rescue efforts and preliminary investigations.
Bhumare said that workers were residing above the factory, emphasizing an ongoing inquiry into the cause of the fire and the living situation of the workers.
Ali Akbar, one of the survivors, narrated the ordeal, explaining how they realized the fire while sleeping, and the desperate escape via the roof and a nearby tree.
