The technical fault led to thousands of commuters getting stranded at railway stations.

The technical fault, which took place at 6:57pm, resulted in the 'bunching' of local trains one after the other, an official said

Many commuters took to social media complaining about being stranded at the railway stations during the peak hour. 

Train services on the CSMT-Kalyan Down fast line were restored at 7:23pm and all lines were operational at 7:35pm, the official said.
