The Byculla constituency, which has seen strong competition in previous elections, will once again be a key battleground in the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections

With Shiv Sena (UBT) fielding Manoj Jamsutkar, the party hopes to retain its influence in the area and continue its legacy of community-focused politics

The Byculla constituency is set for a high-stakes showdown as former Shiv Sena leader Yamini Yashwant Jadhav of the undivided Shiv Sena faces off against Shiv Sena (UBT)'s Manoj Jamsutkar in the polls

The election is particularly significant as both candidates have strong local connections, and the outcome could shape the political landscape of the area

In the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Yamini Jadhav, who was then representing the undivided Shiv Sena, managed to defeat the sitting MLA of AIMIM, Waris Pathan, with a decisive victory

Despite her defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, Yamini Jadhav is confident in her chances in Byculla, where she is pitted against Jamsutkar, a former Congress leader who switched to Shiv Sena in 2012

Jamsutkar, who is also known for his local activism, has focused his campaign on resolving issues such as the redevelopment of old buildings, traffic problems, and illegal parking

Byculla has been a key battleground in Maharashtra's political history, with its diverse demographics and rich cultural heritage

Byculla’s residents, many of whom live in narrow lanes and crowded chawls, have long faced issues with parking, inadequate roads for emergency services, and poor drainage
