IN PHOTOS: Teenager drowns while swimming in Thane

The RDMC said that the incident was reported to the disaster management unit at around 2:12 pm following which the civic officials rushed to the spot to locate the boy. His body was fished out at 5:10 pm. His body has been sent for post mortem. Vartak Nagar police has registered a case and is probing further

The personnel from the disaster management cell, the fire brigade and other civic officials have been conducting a thorough search operation in the vicinity of the incident. They were equipped with two boats, the teams are diligently scouring the area in hopes of locating the missing teenager, the RDMC said

Meanwhile, in an another incident, a 11-year-old boy reportedly drowned in a dam in Virar of Maharashtra's Palghar district, an official from the fire brigade said on Monday

The incident took place at Papadkhind dam, where a group of people went for an outing on Sunday evening. Three boys in the age group of 10 to 11 years were playing in the water, when they were swept away, an official said

People nearby managed to rescue two of the boys, but were unable to save the third one, the official said. The fire brigade rushed to the spot and fished out the body of Om Borade, he said, adding that a case of accidental death has been registered
