NCP legislator and grandnephew of Sharad Pawar, Rohit Pawar, on Wednesday, arrived at the ED office in Mumbai's Ballard Estate for questioning in MSC Bank scam

Rohit Pawar was summoned by the federal agency to appear before them today in connection with alleged fraudulent disbursal of loan amounting to Rs 25,000 crore.

He arrived at the ED office with a book in his hand and was accompanied by party leaders, including his aunt Supriya Sule.

Rohit Pawar sought blessings from Supriya Sule before he entered the probe agency office for questioning.

Prior to arriving there, he met party chief Sharad Pawar in his office and sought his blessings as well.

Rohit, on Tuesday, had expressed he will cooperate with ED and said in his social media post in case ED takes "wrong action" against him, everyone must unite to back Sharad Pawar and anyone upholding the self-respect of Maharashtra and adhering to the Constitution.

The Maharashtra State Cooperative (MSC) Bank scam case revolves around the alleged fraudulent disbursal of loans amounting to Rs 25,000 crore.

A PIL was filed in the Bombay High Court, alleging that some sugar mills defaulted on loans issued without proper scrutiny, resulting in their attachment and auction to various bank officers and politicians. The Bombay High Court, acting on the PIL, issued an order to register a case and begin investigations.

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Maharashtra government initially investigated the case. However, when the EOW submitted a closure report in 2020, the ED filed an intervention petition and launched its inquiry.
