On Saturday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted 'light to moderate spells of rain' in Mumbai and its suburbs

"Generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain is likely in Mumbai and suburbs today," Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation said

Moderate to heavy rainfall at Nehru Nagar, Kurla (East)

A high tide of about 4.22 metres was expected to hit Mumbai at 1.47 pm today. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation also said that a low tide of about 1.16 metres is expected at 7.46 pm today

According to the BMC, none of the major lakes that supply water to the Mumbai's municipal area are currently 'overflowing'. "Compared to July month, the amount of rain in August is less," stated BMC. the water stock in the lakes supplying water to Mumbai is at 83.51 per cent

"Rainfall in August is predicted to be below normal (less than 94 per cent of LPA), but the situation is expected to improve comparatively in September," the IMD said (Pic/Satej Shinde)
