The Maharashtra Day, commonly known as Maharashtra Din is a state holiday in Maharashtra, commemorating the formation of the state of Maharashtra. Maharashtra Day is commonly associated with parades and political speeches and ceremonies, in addition to various other public and private events celebrating the history and traditions of Maharashtra

Meanwhile, the Maha Vikas Aghadi, the coalition of Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) have decided to hold a public rally in BKC on May 1. Top leaders of the three parties and hundreds of party workers are likely to attend the public meeting on Monday

For the Maha Vikas Aghadi's public meeting, the Mumbai Police have made special arrangements. The Mumbai Traffic Police on Saturday issued traffic restrictions in parts of the city ahead of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) rally on Maharashtra Day

In a traffic notification, the Mumbai Traffic Police said, on May 1, MVA has organised a meeting in the jurisdiction of the BKC traffic division at Phataka Ground, BKC area of Bandra (East), Mumbai

The notification said that to attend the meeting, a huge number of activists and other followers of MVA are likely to visit from different parts of Maharashtra in their vehicles at BKC. Due to the huge number of vehicles coming to the BKC area, traffic congestion is likely at Western Express Highway, Eastern Express Highway and nearby roads leading towards the venue
