The previous Parksite station was built over a drain and frequently flooded during monsoon, damaging case files. Poor sanitation, cramped space, and mosquito infestation were routine issues at the old station. (Pic/Sayeed Sameer Abedi)
Mankhurd police station, located in an SRA building, suffers from poor sanitation, foul odours, and constant environmental stress. Officers in Mankhurd station have to navigate disputes with the housing society and even faced lift access being cut off temporarily. Govandi police station’s current structure is decaying, and a new building is being planned on the site of a nearby defunct BEST depot. Kanjurmarg police station, set up in 1987 inside an old asbestos school building, still lacks a secure compound wall, making it risky for officers handling detainees. (Pic/Diwakar Sharma)
