The stellar visuals that surfaced showed the facade of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus was lit with the colours of the Indian flag.

Across the CSMT station stands the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation headquarters and its facade too was beaming with the tricolour.

Similarly, the Vidhan Bhavan and Mantralya (the secretariat) buildings were illuminated to mark Independence Day 2024.

Additional visuals of the scene showed State Bank of India and Shipping Corporation of India's buildings at Nariman Point were decorated with tricolour series lights.

India gained freedom on August 15, 1947, following years of struggle. On this day, it ceased to be a colonial nation and gained complete independence from the British who had dominated it for so long.

On August 15, 2024, India will mark the 78th Independence Day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, since India's 75th year of Independence in 2021, began 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign to encourage people to bring the Tiranga (Indian national flag) home and to hoist it to mark India's Independence.
