As the winter season sets across India, the two leading Metros of the country i.e. Mumbai and Delhi are facing the worst air quality. For the second day in a row, Mumbai's air quality index (AQI) was quite poor as it recorded figures of 280 on November 16. In the aftermath of Diwali festivities, Mumbai's air quality entered the poor category. The city recorded an AQI of 280 on November 16 and on November 15, the corresponding figure was 345.
As per the Central Pollution Control Board, Mumbai's air quality is now under the 'poor' category.
On November 15, Colaba in South Mumbai's air quality was even worse than Delhi. Mumbai's AQI was 345 while the national capital's air quality was 331.
Other locations in Mumbai with 'very poor' air quality include Mazagaon at 331 and Malad at 327. Bandra-Kurla Complex's AQI was 331 on November 16.
According to reports, low wind speed, low temperature and high humidity along with vehicular pollution are playing a vital role in Mumbai's worsening air quality.
