Doctors from various medical institutions, along with the public, gathered at Shivaji Park on Sunday, to demand justice for rape and murder victim from Kolkata.

The protestors held various placards that advocated stricter punishment for rape in India while some held placards that called for stop to the practice of victim-blaming and victim-shaming.

On August 9, a trainee doctor of RG Kar Hospital was found dead in the seminar hall of the institution. She was brutally sexually assaulted and battered and the probe of the case was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation by Calcutta High Court.

As per the latest update, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is examining the call details and chats of Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College, as part of their ongoing probe into the Kolkata doctor rape-murder case.

Sandip Ghosh appeared before CBI officers for the third day in a row on Sunday. He was asked to provide details of his phone calls made before and after the crime occurred.

The CBI is considering contacting the mobile phone service provider to retrieve comprehensive call records and data usage details of Sandip Ghosh as part of their investigation.

Ghosh was questioned by CBI officers for over 13 hours from Saturday night until early Sunday morning. The investigation team has prepared a detailed list of questions for him.

The CBI is focusing on Ghosh's actions after he received news of the doctor's death, including whom he contacted and why the victim’s parents were made to wait for nearly three hours.

The agency is also probing who ordered the renovation of rooms near the seminar hall at the hospital's emergency building shortly after the incident.

The CBI is investigating whether the crime involved any pre-planning or conspiracy and if the former principal had any involvement in the incident. The statements provided by Sandip Ghosh are being cross-checked with those of other doctors and interns who were on duty with the deceased on the night of the incident.

The CBI has interrogated more than 20 individuals, including a couple of Kolkata Police officers, as part of their thorough investigation into the Kolkata doctor rape-murder case. Sandip Ghosh resigned from his position two days after the doctor's body was found and has since sought protection from the Calcutta High Court, fearing possible attacks.
