The India Meteorological Department on Sunday, April 16, in a press release said that the city’s maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 35 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius.

The IMD Mumbai said that forecast was valid for the next 48 hours. It has noted in the forecast report that the sky would remain clear during the said time period

Amid the hot and humid weather, Mumbaikars could be seen covering themselves from heat, attempting to avoid scorching sunlight

Mumbaikars took to social media sites on the rising temperature in the city. One user wrote, “The only thing I’m currently hating about Mumbai is the heat! But otherwise, what a city to live in.”

"There is so much heat here in Mumbai, it’s getting unbearable. The earth warming up is getting serious day by day and we gotta do something asap," wrote another user.

As many as 11 people died due to a heat stroke in Navi Mumbai on Sunday afternoon, while attending the Maharashtra Bhushan Award ceremony, which was also attended by Union home minister Amit Shah, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde and deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis.
