IMD Director Sunil Kabmle told mid-day.com that Mumbai until July-end receives 1200 mm.

Kamble added that Mumbai has received 1800 mm of rainfall indicating that the city has received 600 mm of rainfall. 

Heavy rainfall has been lashing parts of Mumbai since the beginning of the week which has led to waterlogging in several areas. 

The India Meteorological Department said that the city and suburbs will continue to receive heavy rainfall for the next three to four hours. 

The IMD said that very intense spells of rain are very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Mumbai, Mumbai suburb, Thane, Raigad, Ghat areas of Pune in the duration. 

As the rainfall in the city continued, a fourth of the seven lakes supplying water to Mumbai overflowed on Thursday. 

On July 25, Modak Sagar Lake, which has a maximum storage capacity of 1,28,925 million litres began flowing completely around 10.40 am today.

Modak Sagar is the fourth lake to overflow this season this year. Earlier on Thursday, Vihar Lake, with a storage capacity of 27,698 million litres, overflowed around 3.50 am.
