Earlier this month, the BMC undertook a simultaneous deep cleaning drive in five zones. To review the drive’s progress, CM Eknath Shinde had visited various spots in the targeted zones
The initiative was part of the state of Maharashtra’s cleanliness initiative, flagged off on December 3. Under this initiative, one ward in each zone will be cleaned. The campaign focused on different wards of the city
CM Shinde had earlier conducted a five-hour visit across the city to oversee the cleanliness drives
“This campaign has been undertaken with the aim to ensure Mumbai is recognised across the world for its cleanliness,” CM Shinde had earlier said
An official said that as part of the overall cleanliness drive, public toilets are being cleaned and disinfected, in addition to the cleaning and beautification of public walls
At many spots, NGOs and citizens, too, are taking part in the drive
CM Shinde on Sunday visited different areas of Mumbai including Ghatkopar and Chembur and participated in the cleanliness drives, he also appreciated the job of the workers involved in the cleanliness drives across the city
