The BMC have plans to introduce several other species of animals at Byculla Zoo once the renovation of the zoo is complete.

After the completion of renovation, several other exotic species will be housed in new enclosures which would be constructed.

Recently, state forest minister Sudhir Mungantiwar had visited Gujarat and had discussion on getting a pair of lion and lioness.

Mungantiwar had said that Maharashtra is all set to get a lion-lioness pair from Gujarat in return for a tiger and tigress from Mumbai's Sanjay Gandhi National Park.
