The torrential rains have disrupted suburban train services and caused severe waterlogging in multiple areas, resulting in stagnant traffic
Heavy rains on Monday caused significant delays, including the suspension of runway operations at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), impacting aircraft schedules, local train services, and necessitating school closures
The local train services on Central Railway's fast line between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Thane were suspended due to waterlogging following heavy rains in Mumbai
Harbour corridor services were temporarily halted at Chunabhatti due to water accumulation. Western Railway trains were experiencing delays of up to 10 minutes between Matunga Road and Dadar
Meanwhile, at least 40 bus routes in the city and suburbs were diverted or curtailed due to waterlogging. Local train services also experienced significant delays, while key roads faced traffic congestion
Meanwhile, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) declared a holiday for all civic, government, and private schools and colleges to prevent inconvenience to students
The BMC anticipated severe waterlogging and issued warnings, deploying teams to manage the situation
The civic agency is actively monitoring the situation, with senior officials and ward-level staff on the ground
