After the completion of Santacruz Chembur Link Road and East Freeway, traffic from Mumbai city and suburbs as well as from Navi Mumbai to Mumbai and Thane caused heavy traffic at Chheda Nagar Junction, Ghatkopar. To reduce this traffic, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority has undertaken Chheda Nagar Junction Improvement Project. A total of three flyovers and one subway are being constructed under this project. The flyover connecting the SCLR in the said project has been already opened for traffic (Pic/Sameer Abedi)

Today 3.03 kms long Elevated corridor from Kurla to Vakola, Razak junction of SCLR Extension Phase-I is open for traffic. Recently Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two lanes of this corridor as well as MTNL arm. MMRDA is extending the exiting SCLR project in two phases (Pic/MMRDA)

This project will decongest the traffic in Kurla and BKC areas. It will also help to connect the Eastern and Western highways. This project is in progress in two phases, with which the first phase has 5.9 km elevated road. This double-decker bridge complements the existing SCLR bridge. The corridor will benefit the major corporates established in BKC as well as decongest arterial road around the BKC (Pic/MMRDA)

"MMRDA is aggressively completing and launching all the projects to Provide world-class infrastructure to the citizens of the Mumbai metropolitan Region. Chhedanagar is the most congested junction on EEH. After the completion of Mankhurd Ghatkopar Link Road heavy traffic is moving from Navi Mumbai towards EEH which was causing heavy traffic jams. Also, commuters traveling towards Thane direction were getting stuck at the signal of Chhedanagar junction. This flyover will ensure hassle-free travel from Navi Mumbai towards Thane direction. Also, the elevated corridor from Kapadia Nagar to Vakola junction is inaugurated which will ensure faster connectivity between Eastern and Western Express Highway" said S. V. R Srinivas, IAS, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA (Pic/MMRDA)
