Given that CITES, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, was signed on this day in 1973, it was chosen as the anniversary for World Wildlife Day. Photo/RAWW

Snakes are the most common reptile in India and also among the most misunderstood of all animals.
