The Maharashtra Assembly election will be held on November 20, with vote counting for all the 288 constituencies scheduled three days later

During his Mumbai visit, Jaishankar said 'Viksit Maharashtra' is needed to achieve 'Viksit Bharat', adding that the state is always ahead in contributing to the national development

Jaishankar, while speaking to the media, said, "We want the double-engine government to be successful in Maharashtra as it was in many other places"

He further noted that India is the leader in fighting terrorism. "Mumbai is a symbol of counter-terrorism for India and the world. We should not have a repeat of what happened in Mumbai. We are very clear; we also need to expose terrorism," Jaishankar said

Maharashtra's contribution in the field of industry, technology, airports, ports is immense and increasing investments, logistics, exports, best practices is important for foreign policy, Jaishankar said

The India-Middle East Economic Corridor is the most talked about connectivity corridor in the world and the main interface will be in Maharashtra, he said
