On Saturday, devotees in thousands thronged to the revered pandal of Lalbaugcha Raja to seek Lord Ganesha's blessings as Ganeshotsav 2024 commenced.

The police officials had been deployed at the site who were helping the mandal manage the crowd that had come there to pay obeisance.

The first look of the Lalbaugcha Raja was unveiled on September 5 with fanfare and thousands had come to catch the first glimpse of the elephant god's idol.

Known as one of the most visited Ganesh mandals of Mumbai, Lalbaugcha Raja attracts lakhs of devotees every year who queue up to get a darshan.

Reports suggest that this year, the theme for Lalbaugcha Raja is based on the Kashi Vishwanath temple.

The idol of Lalbaugcha Raja, for over eight decades, has been made by the Kambli family.

Lalbaugcha Raja of 2024 is being talked about specifically because of the golden crown adorned by the idol.

The golden crown was sponsored by Anant Ambani and the Reliance Foundation; this crown weighs nearly 20kg and is worth Rs 15 crore.
