Many officegoers and students were inconvinienced due to the delay and expressed their complaints on social media.
The delays were caused by a precautionary order is in place in the section. The caution order, officials said, is effective in the section of Western Railway where the sixth line work is underway.
The WR officials also clarified that there were no failure reported and the delay was due to the caution order.
Western Railway is currently commissioning a sixth line between Borivali and Bandra Terminus and work on Goregaon to Kandivali section is underway.
Under the work for the sixth line, WR commissioned a new Down slow live at Malad and the work was completed during a 10-hour block undertaken on the intervening night of August 31 & September 1, 2024.
The 1.4km brand new railway line with a new platform was on Sunday opened to the public at Malad station after an overnight. Trains are thus running at a restricted speed in the section.
The macro idea is to have a fifth and sixth line between Bandra Terminus all the way till Borivali. This will be the mail/express train national corridor, segregated from the Mumbai suburban corridor.
