On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Dharmaveer Anand Dighe Saheb, Shinde visited the Anand Ashram in Tembhinaka, Thane on Saturday and paid his respects
He also offered garlands to statue of Dharmaveer Anand Dighe at Tembhinaka chowk in Thane
Anand Dighe was born on 27 January 1951. He became President of Shivsena's Thane Unit in 1984 and was a grassroot leader with a large numbers followers. He was popularly known as Dharmaveer
Other Shiv Sena leaders including MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde, MLA Pratap Sarnaik, MLA Sanjay Shirsat, former MP Milind Deora, former MLA Ravindra Phatak were also present with Eknath Shinde to pay their tributes
Late Anand Dighe, popularly known as Dharmaveer was a senior leader & Thane district Unit Chief of Shiv Sena and mentor of Eknath Shinde
CM Eknath Shinde posted on X that, "On the birth anniversary of Dharamveer Anand Dighe Saheb, the government decided to accept all the demands of the Maratha community. Poor and oppressed people who came for help to Anand Dighe saheb, were never returned empty handed", he said
"Following late Anand Dighe's we have tried to give justice to the backward and poor people of Maratha community", Shinde posted on X
On this occasion, 250 activists of Thane city were given appointment letters as special duty officers
Shinde announced that, on the occasion of Dighe Saheb's birth anniversary the scheme launched on behalf of the state government through DBT portal was named as 'Dharmaveer Anand Dighe Labh Samarpan Yojana'
