According to media reports, the Central Railways has imposed a penalty of Rs. 5 lakhs to on its housekeeping contractor for the lapse in cleanliness of the office
Earlier, after a dead rat was found at the office which forced the railway staffers forced them to sit out in the station hall on July 22
The discovery has sparked health concerns among railway staff and they have been sitting outside the lobby since July 22
They have been sitting outside the lobby since Monday as a mark of protest and refuse to go in till the problem was entirely solved
The motormen had been complaining about the cleanliness of CSMT offices for a long time, but their concerns had not been addressed
Earlier this month, the railways had launched a blitzkrieg to show how railway lobbies and running rooms for staff were maintained well
