Security personnel were seen helping commuters navigate their way while others sturggled to board the local trains.

The crowd was massive since the CR had cancelled/ short-terminated nearly 930 local train services during the 63-hour mega block. 

The mega block will facilitate platform extension and widening projects at two important stations: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Thane stations.

These upgrades are crucial for accommodating the increasing number of passengers and enhancing overall railway infrastructure.

At Thane station, block was undertaken for widening of the Platforms 5 & 6. This will facilitate in installation of escalators and widening of foot-over-bridges (FOB).

A dedicated team of 350 labourers, including officers and supervisors is working round the clock to ensure the timely completion of the infrastructure upgrade works at Thane station.

Simultaneously, a 36-hour Special Block is underway at CSMT station for non-interlocking work in connection with the extension of Platforms 10 & 11.

This includes the implementation of an advanced Electronic Interlocking signalling system to enhance rail safety and mobility.

The infrastructure upgrades at CSMT station are being carried out with the help of more than 250 highly skilled and technically competent staff members.
