BMC has achieved a significant milestone by successfully installing second giant girder for the connector between Mumbai Coastal Road & Bandra Worli Sea Link

The newly installed girder, known as a "bow arch string girder", measures 143 metres in length and weighs 2,400 metric tonnes.

The second-giant girder was installed on Tuesday morning weeks after the first such girder was installed in April.

The second girder complements the first girder, which was installed earlier and measures 136 metres in length.

While the first girder installed connects the southbound route of the Coastal road and sea link, the second one connects the northbound route.

The first girder was installed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation on April 26 between 2 am and 3.25 am.

Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani and Additional Municipal Commissioner Amit Saini were present at the project site to witness the historic moment.

The Mumbai Coastal Road Project spans from Worli to Nariman Point and aims to improve connectivity and reduce traffic congestion along the coastline. One part of the road was opened to public in March this year.
