Mumbai is witnessing the coldest days of the winter season, the city on Sunday woke up to a chilly morning as the minimum temperature recorded at the Santacruz observatory of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) was 13.8 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature showed a significant decline on Sunday, it touched 26.2 degrees Celsius which is said to be five degrees below the normal temperature. The lowest temperature recorded so far this winter was 15 degrees Celsius on December 25, as per the IMD reading.
As per records, in 2013, January recorded its lowest temperature of the decade at 10.4 degrees Celsius. There is a possibility that the city may experience cooler days ahead. The current forecast of the IMD shows that the temperature may remain on the lower side on Sunday and Monday, and slightly increase thereafter.
Even though January and February are known to be pleasant months in Mumbai, the city has been experiencing cooler winds this week with temperatures dropping significantly.
On January 14, the Santacruz Observatory of the Indian Meteorology Department had registered just above 15 degrees Celsius, while in Colaba, the temperature had dropped to 17.4 degrees Celsius.
