Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Maharashtra on Saturday to launch several development initiatives costing over Rs 56,000 crore. From the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) Metro Station, he will flag off a train scheduled to Aarey JVLR, Mumbai, and also take a ride on the metro between BKC and Santacruz stations, his office said (PICS/ATUL KAMBLE)

The BKC-Aarey JVLR section of Mumbai Metro Line - 3 is worth around Rs 14,120 crore and will have 10 stations, of which nine will be underground
The PM will also lay the foundation stone of Thane Integral Ring Metro Rail Project to be constructed at the cost of around Rs 12,200 crore. The total length of the project is 29 km with 20 elevated and 2 underground stations
The Thane Metro is a key project to address the growing transportation needs of the city, a major industrial and commercial hub in Maharashtra
The PM will also lay the foundation stone of Elevated Eastern Freeway Extension from Chheda Nagar to Anand Nagar, Thane, worth around Rs 3,310 crore. The project will provide seamless connectivity from South Mumbai to Thane
Seven eight-car trains will operate daily on the Mumbai Metro Aqua Line 3 with a frequency of six minutes and 40 seconds during the morning and evening rush hours

The Aqua Line 3, expected to be opened to the public on Sunday, will be operating 48 services in a single direction on the 12.44-km BKC-Aarey JVLR segment. Throughout the day, 96 services will be operated. But an official confirmation of the public opening is awaited

From Monday to Saturday, trains will run between 6.30 am and 10.30 pm. On Sundays and holidays, they will run between 8.30 am and 10.30 pm. The minimum and maximum fares are Rs 10 and Rs 50, respectively
The rush hour timings of Metro include 8 am to 11 am and 5 pm to 8 pm. There are 10 stations between BKC and Aarey of which all will open, including the two airport stations T1 and T2
The 33.5-km Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ corridor is a key project to improve transportation in the city with 26 underground stations and 1 ground level (Aarey JVLR)
The Aqua Line 3 project is being funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the total project cost, revised to Rs 37,276 crore as approved by the Union government in February this year, includes a JICA loan of Rs 21,280 crore
