Senior IAS officer Bhushan Gagrani took over as new BMC chief from Iqbal Chahal on Wednesday evening

Gagrani, who was serving as additional chief secretary in the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) will now head the Mumbai city as the Administrator replacing Iqbal Chahal

Soon after announcing the Lok Sabha elections schedule on March 16, the Election Commission had ordered the transfer of Chahal, who was also serving as the BMC administrator, and civic commissioners, additional/deputy municipal commissioners who have served more than three years in the present position

Complying to Election Commission's order, on Tuesday two additional BMC commissioners, P Velarasu and Ashwini Bhide were also transferred 

Thane Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar was appointed in place of Velrasu and Amit Saini who served in the GST department was appointed in the place of Bhide

Both IAS officers, Abhjijeet Bangar and Amit Saini took charge as additional municipal commissioner at BMC on Wednesday
