Uddhav Thackeray speaking at the press meet after INDIA bloc huddle

Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray, hitting back at the Bharatiya Janata Party said that Opposition bloc INDIA has resolved to fight corruption and not allow ‘mitra-parivarvad'. Addressing a press conference after the meeting of the opposition leaders, he said the INDIA grouping was getting stronger every passing day and their unity is creating panic among their rivals, reported PTI.

Thackeray was quoted as saying in the PTI report, "INDIA parties have resolved to fight against corruption. We won't allow 'mitra-parivarvad'." His comments came to support allegations of "crony capitalism" against the saffron party.

The term ‘mitra-parivarvad' was coined to counter the BJP's allegation of nepotism against the Opposition parties.

Meanwhile, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge alleged the BJP-led government was stealing from the poor to help big industrialists, the PTI report stated. Kharge said that the INDIA grouping's win is pivotal to stopping this loot. He added, "We all have a common goal to fight against inflation and unemployment."

What transpired at the meeting?

The Opposition leaders on Friday decided that they will fight the elections unanimously and will decide on the seat-sharing formula at the third meeting of the INDIA alliance held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Mumbai. At the meeting were present 63 representatives from 28 political parties.

The INDIA parties have also decided to organize public rallies across different regions in India. These rallies will serve as a platform for the alliance to connect with voters and convey their vision for the country.

The INDIA bloc also decided to coordinate their communication and media strategies in order to maximise their outreach. Under the theme ‘Judega Bharat, Jitega India' (India will progress, India will win) the alliance aims to give a unified message in multiple languages.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, after the meeting, said that they have passed "important resolutions" and the INDIA alliance's coordination committee has been structured, an agency report stated.

The INDIA bloc's decision to fight the Lok Sabha polls together is a significant development in Indian politics as their collaboration could reshape the political landscape since a diverse range of parties have come together and formed the alliance.
