A railway protection force (RPF) constable was suspended for allegedly molesting a female commuter at Kalyan railway station on platform number 6-7. The entire episode was caught on camera.
The constable's identity has been established and he was suspended after the video of the incident went viral. RPF senior divisional security commissioner of the Central Railway, Sachin Bhalode, told Mid-Day, "As soon as we came to know about the incident, the constable was questioned by his seniors. He confessed to committing the crime and we immediately suspended him."
"He is a constable posted at Kalyan RPF. He has not yet revealed to us the date when the event has happened but we are currently investigating it. For us, security of women is of prime importance and any individual who does not respect that will not be spared" he added.
In the video footage, the constable can be seen taking advantage of the sleeping woman and molesting her. Later, few commuters confronted the cop about the incident and even slapped him for his act.
