Days after a two-day-old boy was found under a car in Mira Road, another abandoned baby was found near the mangroves at Suruchi Baug in Vasai last evening.

Two women in the area discovered the baby boy in the garden and informed the police, who then took the infant to a nearby municipal hospital.

According to the police, Suruchi Baug is a popular spot for morning and evening walkers. At around 6 pm, two women who were returning from their walk heard the cries of a baby near the gate of the garden.

When they went closer, they found a baby wrapped in green cloth. The women informed the Vasai Gaon police about the baby. A team immediately arrived at the spot and took the baby to Sir DM Petit Municipal hospital. Doctors at the hospital said that the baby boy is around three days old, and had mosquito bites all over his body. His condition is currently stable.

"The area where the baby was found is secluded and covered with mangroves. We are trying to check CCTV footage of the road that leads to Suruchi Baug to nab the culprits," said Sampatrao Patil, senior inspector of Vasai police station. The police have registered a case against unknown person/s under Sections 327 (abandonment of child under 12 years by parent), 201 (disappearance of evidence) of the IPC.

On October 18, a 22-year-old college boy found a two-day old baby boy abandoned just outside his building in Mira Road. Search for his mother is still on.
