Mumbai Police on Friday issued a traffic advisory for motorists ahead of Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath's campaign in city for BJP's Mumbai North Central candidate Ujjwal Nikam on Saturday, May 18.
In a traffic notification, the police said, whereas, on 18th of May at 15.00 hrs. to 16.00 hrs. Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has arranged a public meeting for promotion of Mumbai North Central constituency candidate Ujjwal Nikam at Bharat Cinema Naka, New Mill Road in Kurla (west) area of Mumbai.
The police said that traffic congestion is likely especially on the road leading to the venue. Hence it is necessary to make an order for traffic management.
The police on Friday shared the details of traffic diversions and alternate route that motorists and the public can use to avoid traffic snarls on Saturday evening.
The police said following roads will be a 'No Entry Road' and the motorists may use the below alternate roads for their travel-
- Vehicular traffic coming from Halav Pul via New Mill Road are restricted.
Alternate Route: Vehicles shall take a right turn at Shri Krishna Chowk on New Mill Road and move towards Sitaram Bhairu Marg - Surve Junction and from their proceed to desired destination.
- Vehicles coming from Belgrami Junction towards Kurla Railway Station are restricted.
Alternate Route: Vehicles shall take a U-turn at Belgrami Junction and move towards Surve Junction and proceed their desire destination from Kurla Depot.
"The said order shall remain in force on 18/05/2024 between 12.00 hrs. to 17.00 hrs," the Mumbai Police said.

Mumbai expected to be hit by traffic snarls on May 17, police issues advisory
Mumbai is expected to be hit by traffic snarls on May 17 due to multiple events in different areas of the city, the police sources said on Thursday evening.
An official said that there area several important events in city on Friday, May 17 and hence a traffic advisory has been issued for commuters especially for those who plan to travel by air or have a train to catch on Friday.
The official said that on May 17, there is PM Modi's public rally at Shivaji Park in Dadar and there is an election event at MMRDA grounds in Bandra too. Moreover, there is an IPL match in Mumbai. All these events on the same day may led to traffic congestion in parts of the city.
In a traffic advisory, the police said, "On 17th May, there is public meeting at Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Park Ground and M.M.R.D.Ground (Pataka Ground), B.K.C. IPL match is going to be played at Wankhede Stadium. At all these places, large number of V.VI.P's., political party followers and match spectators will be present. So, there is possibility of traffic congestion. Therefore, to avoid traffic congestion on Marine Drive, Eastern Express Highway and Western Express Highway on 17th May 2024 from 10.00 hrs to midnight, there will be regulation of traffic. Passengers who are planning to travel by Air and Rail, please plan accordingly to avoid inconvenience."

For PM Modi's rally at Shivaji Park, many supporters and followers from all over Maharashtra are likely to be participate.
"A large number of vehicles are expected on the Western and Eastern Express Highway and traffic congestion is likely, especially on the road leading to the venue hence the traffic police has already planned traffic restrictions and diversions already," an official said.
