Opposition leader also casts apprehension on probe by police ex-commissioner Julio Ribeiro, stressing it won’t be effective unless HM quits

Devendra Fadnavis has been relentless in his attacks on the MVA government over the Sachin Waze episode

Stepping up his allegations against the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi dispensation, Opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis said that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had been given a report on corruption in the transfer of police officers, but the findings were ignored.

During his Sunday's media interaction, Fadnavis accused NCP chief Sharad Pawar of saying half-truths to save the government. "Before Param Bir Singh made serious allegations against the home minister, the then director-general of police (state) Subodh Kumar Jaiswal had submitted a detailed report on a transfer racket in the home department. The then commissioner of state intelligence Rashmi Shukla had dug out all details of the agents and the bribes taken for giving choice postings. Neither the CM nor the home minister acted on the report," said Fadnavis in Nagpur.

According to Fadnavis, Jaiswal, an honest officer, chose to go on a Central deputation instead of working with the state home department, and Shukla was shifted unceremoniously before she sought a job in Delhi.

‘Waze got important assignments'
"It is true that a panel led by Singh recommended Waze's comeback, but it is equally true that Waze was given top assignments because of the CM and MH's patronage. When reinstated after suspension, police officers are not given executive postings, but Waze got all the important assignments," said Fadnavis.

The former CM and BJP leader continued, "Pawar's statements are a mere window dressing. We respect [Julio] Ribeiro for his experience and maturity, but can Deshmukh be probed if he remains in the office? Deshmukh must resign or the CM should sack him immediately" and asked whether Shiv Sena's Anil Parab ran the home department.
