Thane Municipal Corporation has announced that it will observe "Lokshahi Day" (Democracy Day) on October 3, inviting citizens to participate by submitting their grievances and requests by September 18. This initiative aims to provide residents with a platform to address their concerns and seek solutions to various issues, Department of Public Relations said in a statement on Tuesday.

According to municipal authorities, citizens are encouraged to submit their applications and requests 15 days before the scheduled Day. This means that the deadline for submissions is September 18. Interested individuals can drop off their applications at the Municipal Corporation Building or the Civic Service Centre. To facilitate the process, the Municipal Corporation has made available Form-1 (B) at the Civic Service Centre for citizens to fill out when submitting their requests.

The Department said that the move aligns with a directive issued by the Maharashtra government, specifically the General Administration Department Circular No. PRASUDA-1099/CR-23/98/18-A, dated September 26, 2012. According to this directive, requests will not be accepted on Public Grievance Day for the month of December. Instead, the Municipal Corporation has committed to addressing all submitted requests within a month. Citizens participating in Democracy Day are requested to note the token number assigned to them on the day for reference.

Each applicant is permitted to raise only one complaint per application. Multiple complaints within a single application will not be considered. This rule applies across various categories, including establishment-related issues, court cases, matters related to the Information Commission, and correspondence from political parties or elected representatives of municipal corporations. Applications that do not adhere to this individual format will not be accepted or processed.

The civic body had last heard public grievances on July 4, this year. During the Lokshahi Day event at the Municipal Headquarters, complaints submitted during the previous Lokshahi Day were reviewed, as well as those complaints that were not addressed for one month were also taken up.
