23-year-old arrested at Vasind in Thane for killing his father and his father's lover. He had just had a row with the woman, who he claims had been harassing the family for over a decade
Weeks after Thane witnessed the gruesome massacre of 14 members of a family, another murder has come to light. A 23-year-old man was arrested yesterday at Vasind in Thane after he killed his father and his father's girlfriend by slitting their throats with a sharp knife.
Sagar Dinkar (centre) says now that he has succeeded in murdering his father and his girlfriend, the police can do whatever they want
The incident occurred early last morning at the accused's residence. In his statement to the police, the arrested accused Sagar Suresh Dinkar (23) said he was frustrated by the constant harassment from his father's partner, who would never give them food on time. The woman had been allegedly harassing Sagar, his mother and brother for over a decade. Sagar's biological mother passed away 14 years ago.
According to the police, the deceased have been identified as Sagar's father, Suresh Vaman Dinkar (45), and the girlfriend Lata Dinkar (35), who also has a six-year-old daughter.

Suresh claims the harassment had increased over the last three months. "He stated that after Lata entered their lives, the atmosphere at home changed and his family faced harassment. The woman had also harassed his mother and never gave them food on time. They would have to take her permission for every other thing. He had decided to kill her and his father as well, as the latter always supported her. Now, he claims the police can do whatever they want, as he is happy after taking their lives," said Senior Police Inspector Anil Pawar, Vasind police station of Thane rural police.
Sagar works as an office boy in a private firm. His work timings were supposedly the bone of contention between him and his father's partner. The killing took place after he returned home yesterday at 4 am.
"He claims that as soon as he reached home, Lata started arguing with him over the delay in returning from work. This was a daily argument between them. After a 30-minute argument, he got frustrated, took a knife and slit the throat of Lata and his father," Pawar added.
Sagar's brother Anil Dinkar - who was not at home at the time of the murder - stepped into the house 15-20 minutes after the murder, and informed his neighbours about the incident.
"The public caught hold of Sagar and informed us, after which we reached the spot and arrested the accused. He slit their throat with a knife. This case seems similar to the recent Thane massacre, where 14 family members were killed," added Pawar.
A case has been registered against Sagar at Vasind police station under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code. "We have registered a case on the statement given by Anil, Sagar's younger brother. Sagar has been placed under arrest. He will be produced in a local court on Tuesday," added Pawar.
