The body of a man was found in a nullah near Kalwa creek in Thane on Tuesday.
According to the officials, the age of the man is believed to be 35 years to 40 years.
Yasin Tadvi, the chief of disaster management cell of the Thane Municipal Corporation, said, "The unidentified man's body was spotted around 2 pm near Kalwa creek."
"The body was fished out and sent to a government official for post-mortem following which the police began a probe," added the official.

Meanwhile, The body of a 57-year-old man who jumped from the Bandra-Worli Sea Link here was recovered from the Arabian Sea on Tuesday following a search that also involved the Navy and Indian Coast Guard, an official said.
Garment businessman and Khar resident Tikam Makhija drove to the cable-stayed bridge, parked his car there and jumped into the sea on Monday morning, the official said.
"He was disturbed for the past few days," he said.
