A 26-year-old nurse with a Thane-based hospital, fed up of fights at home, faked her kidnapping to harass her husband. The Naupada police had registered a case and found during investigation that she had faked it.
The woman, in her statement to police, said that she was kidnapped by an auto-rickshaw driver along with two other people, who used chloroform to make her unconscious and sexually assaulted her. She claimed she boarded an auto-rickshaw from Hari Niwas circle near Naupada.

She and her husband approached the Naupada police on Friday night and registered a kidnapping case. The plot was revealed when the Naupada police started the investigation and collected CCTV footage of the area from Thane where the alleged incident took place, but didn't find any auto-rickshaws on the route. "The woman was taken to Thane civil hospital, where doctors cleared that she was not raped," said a senior officer from Naupada police station.
Rashmi Karandikar, DCP (Traffic), and API Sharda Waydande from Thane Nagar police station, started taking the statement of the woman. "In her statement she confessed that she was frustrated with her life and fights at home. Hence she concocted the story, alleging that some rickshaw driver along with two people had kidnapped her. She injured herself with her fingernails, switched off her mobile and later switched it on, called her husband and they approached the police," said a police officer.
Gajanan Kabdule, Senior Police Inspector, Naupada police station said, "We are investigating the matter. The medical examination is done and her statement is on. We can't reveal the facts yet."
