SUV bomb scare case: NIA seizes Innova car which 'tailed' the explosive-laden Scorpio

The National Investigating Agency seized a white Innova car suspected to be following the Scorpio with explosives that was parked near industrialist Mukesh Ambani's residence.

According to sources, this car was parked inside Mumbai Police Commissioner's office and was used by the Crime Investigation Unit (CIU) which Sachin Vaze was heading. The NIA requested the Mumbai police and took over the custody of this vehicle.

According to a police official, the Innova, having Tardeo RTO's registration number 'MH 01 ZA 403' and 'Police' written on its rear windshield, was brought to the NIA's office on Pedder Road here with the help of towing van, hours after the arrest of Vaze.

Vaze, an "encounter specialist", is also facing heat in the murder case of Thane-based businessman Mansukh Hiran who was in possession of this Scorpio. Hiran was found dead in a creek in Thane district on March 5.
