Two days after mid-day reported how a school in Kalyan had sent a parent a Rs 25 lakh defamation notice for taking up the fee hike battle, another school in Mira Road has expelled a student over a similar issue.

Aryan Nayak, a Std V student, from RBK School, Mira Road was de-enrolled yesterday morning without any explanation. Akash Nayak, his father who has been fighting with the school management over arbitrary fee hikes, has alleged that after the school removed his daughter in June, they were now targeting his son. In a symbolic protest, Nayak has organised a last-rites function at his residence today to mark the death of education rights for his children.

When contacted, advocate Vinod Talreja, representing the school, said that the school had issued a show-cause notice to Aryan's parents asking why their child should not be de-enrolled. "Parents were required to reply to the notice within seven days from the receipt," he said, while justifying the de-enrollment.

Meanwhile, Suresh Deshmukh, local education officer, has issued a notice to the school asking them to re-admit Nayak's children, failing which their NOC would be cancelled.
